Poetry 2018 Longlist, Bandana Kar

Stabbing

Stabbing does not trickle tears in me these days;
Nor when destiny throws me down to the hell;
It is your sudden turning away from me
That sautés my flesh in the heat of the blood.
What is/was my fault?
To cling to the pure breath that keeps me alive?
Yes, you are my pure breath, my oxygen, my elixir;
But it is that I am supposed to do when I was born as a human.
Everybody takes breath in and releases it;
But I inhale your murky love and exhale only mud;
You remain pure inside me
Holy like holy Bible, pure like my Heavenly Father!

Poetry 2017 Longlist Bandana Kar

Oasis of Bliss

From your body oozes the pride of my forehead,
Petal after petal it falls from your chest;
On the soil I am love-lorn at the shore of your smile,
In the sky i am a mirage that misses you every while.

You are  remnants of love of the cloud of North,
My six acres dreams in the palm like earth,
A small jasmine I am in your heart’s hinterland,
The silent dew drops you are in my body’s mainland.

Death, decay, disease and all the misfortunes of the world
May befall on me but can't take you from my heart,
You are an eternity that I relish each day -
An oasis of bliss, what you are for me I can't even say!

Poetry 2016 Longlist, Bandana Kar

Germination in The Backstage

 Thick darkness,
 Moon on the other side of the window,
Cadence of the gentle breeze,
Sublime thrill,
Past is being peeled off, layer by layer,
Along with the poisoned faith and betrayed red attire,
Mild palpitation,
Little vibration,
That is all...

But ah! Melody replaces melancholy
And once again my life hums a tune.
All dreams assembled, renovate the broken guitar of my heart,
And measure the magnitude of their existence, stretching both hands,
Past and Present are waging a war within myself
Like waves crashing at the shore.
Life and suffering juxtapose like stanzas in a poem,
And thus, in the back stage germinates my small world
Like a newer note of pathos.
