One day
The government introduced a new tax:
Carbon dioxide emission tax.
There was a hue and cry.
The opposition organized marches,
People walked on the roads.
The government assured that the law was for everyone’s good.
A central database was created
A small machine was installed in everyone’s body overnight.
Every month, people received a bill as per the unit of carbon dioxide released.
The opposition raised the issue in the Parliament,
And assured masses of the rule change when they come into power.
Sessions were suspended, and ministers were ousted.
The next election,
The government changed.
As promised, the new government changed the law
And taxed Oxygen.
