Vidhya Sankarnarayan, Poetry 2021 Shortlist

 Mongrel

I come from many home towns

Songs sung in pidgins and mother tongues

Profanities that spill over borders

Family forged with bread and blood

My loves, they travel time

My heart, you walk into it

My roots, they stretch and leap and flow

Wherever I am, I come home
