Poetry 2018 Longlist, Debasis Tripathy

A Wormhole

A day will come, as they say
when even the gravity of earth
can’t hold you from escaping away
to a remote land of timeless birth.

How would I search for you within
the stars, planets and empty space
and the myriads of galaxies unseen?
How would I see your eternal face?

Unsure where you may have to reside,
perhaps zillions of lightyears from here;
probably, some place on the other side
of Cosmos, too remote and even austere.

Travelling in the confines of vast time
and unbounded space, maybe I’ll find
and enter the wormhole tunnel sublime
and reach you, leaving everyone behind.
